Welcome to Donwood, WV

The Morris Creek Watershed is split in half by Fayette and Kanawha Counties, which made locating information for MCWA Culture and History projects a challenge. We are grateful to those who have contributed to this project. Thank You!

Levi Morris

Morris Creek is named in reference for Levi Morris, considered the first permanent settler in Fayette County. His house still stands near the mouth of Morris Creek in the city of Montgomery, built with store bought nails from Virginia in 1793.
